Cravings

I haven't blogged about accessories in a while, and I wanted to share the ones I'm craving this summer. These things have been hot for a while, but I'm a little behind because I haven't been able to buy much lately.

1) Oversized Men's Watch

Men's watches on women's wrists are becoming more and more popular. Wearing a large-faced metal one (I prefer gold) a little bit loose completes almost any summer time outfit. This Le Chateu watch is on sale for $85 from Overstock.com, but I'm sure you can find something cheaper at your local thrift store or TJMaxx.

2) Nude/Taupe Heels

I don't know how it's possible I don't own a pair yet, it's almost disgraceful. They're super trendy right now, and they look great with everything. Try these Dolce Vita heels (I have them in black, they're fab) for $136

Love these platforms from Bakers for $70. They're calling to me (no really, they're named "Gabbi")

3) Matte Nail Polish

It's time to ditch the glossy stuff; matte polish is what's in! I'm personally lovin' it. If you don't wanna shell out the dough, you can achieve this look by applying your base coat on top of your normal polish--it helps dull the shine. If you wanna buy it, KnockOut Cosmetics makes some great shades like Karen and Calamine (seen below), and OPI launched a matte line this month.

4) Feather Earrings

They have never really gone out of style, but I'm especially digging them right now. Since my hair is now super short, I feel naked without intricate, dangly earrings to make up for the lack of 'fro. The asymmetrical look is hot! A ton of etsy sellers make handmade ones, like these from Azeeta Designs for $12.

5) Clear Umbrella

These have been around for years now, and I've wanted one forever. The rain in NYC has been coming down non-stop, so I think it's time to finally invest in one and stop carrying around my boring black thing. This one from TopShop has cute pink ruffles!

What accessories are on your wishlist this summer?

Manglaze (www.manglaze.com) makes gray and black matte polishes, and they're pretty affordable.

Zoya just came out with a line of matte polish too... It wears as nicely and is a third the price of the KO stuff! Not as many colors yet, but I think they're getting there :) http://tinyurl.com/luc4ov

I also like the idea of nude heels in theory, however, I am not "nude". I am more caramel in color. What are nude heels going to look like on me? Do I need to wear carmel heels in order to get the look? Is it the same look? What are your thoughts on this?

We're on the same wavelength! I've been super-obsessed with over-sized men's watches, too! And I have matte nail polish in magenta.

I love the big black faces and black leather straps of the men's watches - we're having sales in Australia so I snapped up a Tommy Hilfiger Man's watch at 30% off!

Chanel has some faaabulous matte nail polishes - I've been wearing Rouge Noir for years.

I need to get some nude heels ASAP.

We're so on the same style wavelength here!

I guess it's because I'm British that the umbrella spoke to me the most...

I love every accessory on here except the nude heels. @__@ I can't even walk in heels... The feather ones are so-so to me.

Right now I'm into hobo bags and slinging bangs. And ROSARIES. I love those too. That topshop umbrella is very, very cute.

Black snakeskin anythings, aviators and funky wedges like Nadara Sunset. Are funky hair colors an accessory? I'm digging the matte nailpolish too!

I love anything and everything with studs!

As far as umbrella's go I just got a pink paint splattered one from F21 and I love it!! http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=acc_giftitem&product_id=1060294094&Page=all

ooh yes, I've been into matte nailpolish for quite a few months now. The great thing is if you're ready to go glossy again, just add a shiny top coat! Sort of twoferone :) I also love matte eyeshadow and Revlon just came out with a line including lovely colors like "vintage lace" that would be a great compliment to the nude heels! I love it for the mod look but because it tones down the overall face-glaze I get from the hot & humid summer heat!

Black leather ankle boots, reverse french manicure, and any natural stone like amber or labradorite type jewelry has been on my list. I think I'll have to add matte nail polish to that.

Matte nail polish? I'm so down!

I have been wanting some nude heels for a while, but my finances at the moment can't handle a new pair of shoes. Even a pair of very affordable ones I saw at H&M. If you're lucky enough to have an H&M store close (which I don't *sigh) I suggest you go get some.

I have a topcoat from the nail polish brand - you put it over anything and it makes it matte! It's awesome (and it was free, which is even awesome-er)
